PGL

What a weekend! The children have been spectacular and faced many challenges! They should be very proud of everything they have achieved and learned throughout the weekend!

Enjoy the pictures - it is hard to believe we did it all in one weekend!

With only 3 more days until we leave, the children are certainly excited! Please make sure you have everything you need to take with you! The recent letter has explained most of the important information but I will outline everything else here!

We have managed to fit in a swimming session on the Monday morning so please make sure you bring a swimming costume and a spare towel! We are doing canoeing too so the spare towel will be needed for this too - you do not want to be drying yourself after a shower with a lake soaked towel!

On Friday, come in wearing your casual clothes - not school uniform! The weather at the moment suggests it is going to rain slightly on the Saturday and maybe Friday, so PLEASE BRING WATERPROOF clothing with you!

There is no bedding provided so make sure you have a sleeping bag or duvet that is thick enough to keep you warm at night, and of course a pillow or 2.

If you are bringing in medication, bring it in in a bag with your full name clearly labelled on the front and hand it over to me straight away so I can keep it safe.

As the letter had already stated - only bring 1 SMALL bag of sweets if you wish to, anything else will be taken away and given back to you at school on Monday. The food is outstanding and lots of it so I assure you you do not need more food!

Do not bring anymore than £5 with you - it can cause a little upset if people have more money than others! This is for you to look after, so any money lost will not be reimbursed. Keep it in a safe wallet or purse!

It is going to be an excellent weekend and one that you will never ever forget!!

If you have anymore questions, please do pop in and ask!

Our Performance

Last Thursday we were lucky enough to have a drumming workshop! We had 45 minutes with Glyn to practise our drumming sequence. We were then chosen to perform what we had learned to the whole school!

It is only a small clip as the whole video was too large to upload!

How to make a paper mache frog!

We are going to have a go at making these on Thursday! So read up so you know how!
Step 1:
Crumple some newspaper into a frog-like shape. I used two balls–the larger one for the body and a smaller, flatter one for the head. You can see the basic shape, from the side, below. Since it gets covered in clay, you don’t need to worry about the weird bumps and valleys. The clay will cover them smoothly.

Step 2:
Tape the center of one long wire to the frog’s chest, just below the “chin.”

Step 3:
Now twist the ends of the wire to make the fingers. If you’re using pipe cleaners you’ll need another one for each arm so you’ll have enough for all fingers and some extra length to wind around the arm, strengthening it. Tape any extra wire to the frog’s tummy. It will be covered with paper mache clay, and the extra wire helps to anchor the arms and legs.

Step 4:
Do the same thing with the back legs, attaching them to the frog’s rear end.

Step 5:
Use aluminum foil to pad the legs and arms, and use masking tape to cover the toes.

ARTS WEEK!

I hope you have all had a very relaxing half term and are ready to come back to an action packed week on Tuesday!

It is of course our annual Arts Week! This year, we are using amphibians as a stimulus for our work. Your home learning was to research so I hope you come in on Tuesday with some idea about what they are and some examples too.

We are going to focus on frogs. Throughout the week we will extend our music, art, science and creative writing skills!
